Brian Clark is the founder and President of Des Moines-based Sonar Development Partners. Brian brings a deep knowledge of development, master planning, entitlements, construction, and capital markets. He has over thirty (30) years of diverse project management experience, ranging from healthcare, government, and corporate to distribution developments. His creative vision and client-centric model are ideal for representing public and private sector clients, seeking better outcomes for all stakeholders.

Before founding Sonar, Brian served as Director of Real Estate Development for the Midwest Division of Ryan Companies. During his 7-year tenure at Ryan, the Midwest division grew its Development portfolio from 15% of gross revenues in 2015 to 40% in 2020.

He brings an entrepreneurial perspective to Sonar from his previous experience as a small business owner. In 1998, he founded Brian Clark and Associates (BCA), a 7-person landscape architecture, planning, and urban design firm, renamed Confluence in 2008. Under his 17-year tenure as president, Confluence grew to a 45-person firm and expanded to 5 offices across the Midwest. This background helped shape his strong sense of ethics and client-first approach. 

Brian’s ability and affinity to connect with clients has manifested itself in the creation of Sonar.
